Like the photograph Against the Mirror, this image is part of a series of photos (for a calendar and public exhibition) I edited for Nature Iraq, to help the biodiversity agency raise funds for field work. Grist magazine just (as of May 11, 2011) published a profile of Nature Iraq, titled, “New green zone spreads in Iraq.”
PBS also features the nonprofit agency in a video titled Braving Iraq. “NATURE’s Braving Iraq unravels this tale about what was once one of the richest and most important wetlands in the world – from its virtual destruction by a ruthless dictator to its exciting, new prospects for a miraculous recovery.”
